Washing and staining keeps your fence looking new for years
What fence staining does

Washing and staining keeps your fence looking new for years

Left untreated, a wood fence grays, traps mildew and dries out in the Florida sun. A thorough wash followed by a quality stain and seal restores the color and protects every board from rot, UV and rain.

We pressure-wash the fence, brighten the wood, make minor repairs, then apply a penetrating stain and sealer on both sides. The result is even color, water that beads off, and a fence that frames your yard instead of aging it.

  • Privacy, picket, ranch and gate fencing
  • Pressure-washed and brightened before any stain
  • Penetrating stains and sealers that stand up to Florida
Before we stain

Four things we get right on every fence

01

Choosing the right stain

Transparent, semi-transparent or solid, we help you pick the color and opacity that suits your fence and your yard.

02

Washing and brightening

We pressure-wash off dirt, mildew and gray, then brighten the wood so the stain absorbs evenly on every board.

03

Repairs and prep

We reset loose pickets and fasteners and flag any boards or posts that need attention before we stain.

04

Sealing for Florida weather

A quality sealer sheds water and blocks UV so your fence holds its color longer between refreshes.

What we do

Fence services we offer

Fence Staining

Even, durable color on privacy, picket and ranch fencing, in the opacity that fits your yard.

Fence Washing

Pressure-washing that lifts dirt, mildew and gray, on its own or as prep before we stain.

Sealing & Waterproofing

A premium sealer that sheds water and blocks UV so the finish lasts longer in the Florida sun.

Repairs & Pickets

Loose pickets, popped fasteners and wobbly sections tightened up so the fence is solid before we stain.

Gates

The part of the fence that gets the most use, cleaned, stained and sealed to match the rest.

New Fence Finishing

Just had a fence installed? We seal and stain new wood so it is protected from day one.

Our process

A systematic approach that delivers the job we promised

A clear, repeatable process is how we keep quality high on every project. Here is how your fence job goes.

  1. 1

    Wash and brighten

We pressure-wash the fence, remove mildew and brighten the wood so stain absorbs evenly.

  2. 2

    Prep and repair

We reset loose pickets and fasteners and protect nearby landscaping and surfaces.

  3. 3

    Stain

We apply a penetrating stain in your chosen color and opacity, both sides, worked into the grain.

  4. 4

    Seal

A quality sealer locks it in so water beads off and the color holds against the sun.

  5. 5

    Inspect

We walk the finished fence with you to make sure every board meets our standard, and yours.

Fence staining FAQs

Is the estimate really free?
Yes. We provide free, no-obligation fence estimates with no sales pressure. Book online or call and we will take a look, talk through your goals, and give you a clear price.
How often should I re-stain my fence in Florida?
Most wood fences here do best with a fresh stain and seal every two to three years. The Florida sun and humidity wear finishes faster than up north. We will tell you honestly where yours stands.
Do you wash the fence first?
Always. We pressure-wash and brighten to remove dirt, mildew and gray, then let it dry so the stain bonds to clean, sound wood.
Can you stain both sides?
Yes. For the best protection and a consistent look we stain both sides of the fence wherever access allows.
My fence is brand new, should I wait to stain it?
New pressure-treated wood usually needs to dry out first, sometimes a few weeks to a few months. We will check the moisture and advise the right timing so the stain takes properly.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Hillis Brothers has been fully licensed and insured since 1992 and is a BBB-accredited business. You are in good hands from the first call to the final coat.
